Ram’s has supported various sports in St Kitts and Nevis during its 75 years of operation in the Federation.

The Company’s support of cricket can be traced back to June 1937 when it sponsored the Rupchand Cup for the Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament. The Challenge Trophy can still be viewed at our Bird Rock Supermarket location. Since then Ram’s has supported various cricket developmental programs aimed at the pre-teen and teen athletes.

Track and Field

Our involvement in track and field began with the annual Milo Primary School Track and Field Championships in 197?. The event has evolved into the Annual Ram’s Primary School Track and Field Championships bringing all the primary school track and field teams in St. Kitts to compete for medals, trophies and honour during a weekend event at the Silver Jubilee Track and Field Complex located in Bird Rock. The event attracts as many as 800 athletes and over 5,000 spectators during the weekend. The success of the annual meet has been achieved through the collaborative efforts of Ram’s, The Ministry of Sports, The Ministry of Education, the St Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association, and over 200 volunteers and amateur athletic enthusiasts that give freely of their time, energy, and expertise. The athletes nurture their sense of competition, teamwork, as well as their athletic ability. The program has been the springboard for some athletes that has catapulted them into successful secondary and post-secondary athletic programs in the Federation as well as in the US. The elite few have represented the Federation on the international track and field stage. E.g. Kim Collins 2009 World Champion 100m.

Ram’s involvement with football began in 2000 when it sponsored the premier division team, the Sunquick Cayon Rockets. The team successfully won the Premiere Division in 2000/01. In 2008, Ram’s expanded its involvement with football, with the sponsorship of the current Primer League and FA Cup Champions, the Ram’s Village Superstars.

Since 1995 Ram’s has sponsored the multiple Championship Primer Division Basketball Team, the Ram’s Hitters. The Ram’s Hitters are the most successful team in the Federation. Several of its players have been awarded scholarships to post-secondary schools in the USA.
